I wanted to build my own quad-copter for years, ever since my cousin Patrick Philbey showed one he built, way back in 2012.
2021, I felt it was finally time to spend some of the pay I earnt programming robots with Diverseco, and invest into my own drone. Considering my upcoming Autonomous Systems and Computer Vision topics to complete in 2022, I decided to build one around an Ardupilot flight controller, allowing development of autonomous projects when paired with a companion computer.
The original intention of this drone is to develop collision prediction and avoidance functionality.
However, as a contributor to the RobotX challange, the RobotX drone development will likely be prioritised over this one.
